Everything Ongaku's audio engine can decode

Most Android players are limited to what the phone's own codecs handle. Ongaku ships its own FFmpeg-powered engine on top of Media3/ExoPlayer, which adds two things: it reads containers Android has no parser for, and it decodes codecs the platform doesn't ship. That is why it plays files most players reject.

Playback support isn't the same as library discovery. Every format on this page plays. Your library list, though, is built from Android's own media index — so a few of the more exotic containers below won't appear there automatically until the OS indexer recognises them or Ongaku's folder-scan lands. You can still queue them from a file manager and they'll play fine.

Gapless

Gapless playback works for lossless and hi-res files, so live albums and continuous mixes play the way they were mastered.
